Tierärztliche Praxis für Akupunktur am Pferd is run by Dr. med. vet. Johanna Schmidt from Klostergut 1 in Gleichen near Göttingen and works exclusively with horses. The practice uses acupuncture both to treat chronic conditions and as a preventive health measure, taking the view that nearly any horse can benefit rather than limiting the method to pain management. Each horse is assessed as a whole before the acupuncture points are chosen, and the vet deliberately allows plenty of time for handling and examination. Dr. Schmidt qualified in veterinary medicine in Berlin and Gießen and spent fifteen years working in equine clinics and practices before founding her own.
