We scan for a compliant ISO 11784/11785 microchip and cross-check the unique ID against our database and the issuing registry.

Registry record cross-check
Name, foaling date and sire/dam are matched against the official stud book or breed registry — WBFSH, AHS, AQHA, Jockey Club and others.
- Check 03
Vet-sighted photo capture
An accredited vet or Hoofine-trained inspector witnesses the horse in person and uploads geo-tagged photos of markings, the microchip scan, and the passport.
- Check 04
Seller identity (KYC)
Seller identity is verified with government-issued ID and a proof of control over the horse. Payout accounts are linked under the same name.

Verification questions
- How long does verification take?
- Typically 3–7 business days from vet visit. Urgent pre-auction verification can be prioritised for a surcharge.
- How much does it cost?
- $199.99 per horse, one-time. Additional vet travel fees may apply outside our standard coverage areas.
- Is verification required to list?
- No. Listings are free and unverified listings are welcome. Verified listings simply rank higher and close faster.
- What if the microchip cannot be read?
- We will re-scan at a second visit. If the chip has failed, we can facilitate re-chipping through a partner vet before verification completes.
