Blue Oaks Center for Equestrian Arts and Education works to preserve the Baca Barb horse, a rare breed descended from Spanish horses. It has identified and gathered all known Baca Barb horses and maintains a DNA database on them. Its preservation program has begun placing some of these horses with select owners or foster families. The center also runs an Equine Assisted Learning Program and teaches natural horsemanship.
