The Comox Valley Therapeutic Riding Society offers equine-assisted therapy and recreation for children and adults with disabilities. Its therapy horses undergo a training programme covering ground work, ridden work and handling of the programme equipment. Sessions are led by instructors certified through the Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association. The society serves riders from the Comox Valley and other Vancouver Island communities, with volunteers working as horse handlers and side walkers.
