Reitstall Birkenhof is a private livery yard set in woodland between Köln-Dünnwald and Köln-Höhenhaus, run by the same family since 1964. Boarding is offered as paddock trail, open stable, active-movement stable and outside boxes, with a large woodland paddock, summer and winter pasture, and reduced-sugar hay for horses with special dietary needs. Riders have a 20 x 50 m outdoor arena laid with premium sand and equipped with LED lighting, a computer-controlled watering system, large mirrors and a sound system, plus an XXL round pen, solarium, wash area, tack room and a heated common room with a fireplace. A private cross-country track through the surrounding forest was added for conditioning work and for building confidence in nervous horses and riders, and bridleways lead directly into the Dünnwalder Wald. Riding instruction, a riding school and Western riding are available on site, and every boarded horse must carry proof of third-party liability insurance.
