Hof Peine

Hof Peine at Holte-Spangen near Cuxhaven is a boarding and convalescence yard for horses with respiratory disease, run by Udo and Kathrin Peine. The farm makes deliberate use of its position on the North Sea coast, where the salt-laden sea air eases equine airways. Horses can come for a short rehabilitation stay or board permanently where the condition is chronic. They are kept in a movement stable spread over six hectares, with individual paddocks for horses on a course of treatment, and are fed fresh grass and hay or haylage cut from the farm's own untreated herb-rich meadows. Veterinary and farrier visits, medication and day-to-day monitoring are coordinated by the yard.
