Verified sellers, escrow on every sale, no funny business.
Two flows — buying and selling — under one set of rules that keep both sides honest.
Buying a horse on Hoofine
- 1
Browse the marketplace
Filter by breed, discipline, price, location, sex and age. Every horse you see is listed by a real, identity-verified seller. Save searches to be notified when new matches arrive.
- 2
Verify your buyer account
The Verified Member badge is a subscription — Charter Members get their first year free. Verification is required for any purchase of $5,000 or more. Identity is handled by Stripe Identity — document plus selfie, takes about three minutes.
- 3
Open escrow
When you're ready to buy, open a secure escrow on the listing. Your card is authorised but not captured until both parties have agreed terms. A 3% buyer protection fee is added on top of the agreed price — you see the final total before you commit.
- 4
Inspect after delivery
Once the seller marks the horse as shipped and you confirm delivery, you have a 48-hour inspection window. Anything not as described — health, soundness, paperwork — open a dispute and our trust team reviews evidence from both sides.
- 5
Release the funds
When you're satisfied, release. The seller is paid out to their connected Stripe account on Stripe's standard schedule (typically 1–2 business days in most countries). The horse is yours.
Selling a horse on Hoofine
- 1
Sign up — free
Listing is always free on Hoofine. The first 100 sellers join as Charter Members and receive a free year of the Verified Member badge, a complimentary Feature Max boost, and a permanent badge on their profile.
- 2
Complete KYC verification
Identity is verified by Stripe Identity through the Verified Member badge subscription, from $9.99/month — Charter Members get their first year free. It earns you the Hoofine Verified badge, priority placement and trusted-seller status.
- 3
Connect Stripe for payouts
Stripe Connect handles your payouts. One-time onboarding flow collects bank or debit-card details, tax info, and identity documents — required by financial regulators in your country. Once connected, payouts arrive automatically.
- 4
Publish your listing
Use the listing wizard: photos, breed, discipline, age, height, papers, location, asking price. The wizard prompts you to declare any known health or behavioural issues — buyer protection that also protects you legally. Optional: boost visibility with a Feature tier, from $9.99 for 30 days.
- 5
Ship and get paid
When a buyer opens escrow on your listing, you'll receive an email. Arrange shipping, mark the escrow as shipped from your dashboard. After the buyer's 48-hour inspection window closes with no dispute, funds release to your Stripe account minus the seller fee (4.8% + $69.99 service fee).
Four guarantees on every sale
Verified identity
Every seller passes Stripe Identity. Document plus selfie plus liveness check. No exceptions for marketplace sales.
Verified horse
Registry papers, microchip, passport (where required), ownership history. The Verified badge appears on the listing card.
Hoofine Certificate
Optional premium tier. Manual review by our team of papers, ownership chain, and health documentation. Premium ribbon and SEO boost.
Escrow on every sale
Funds never move directly between buyer and seller. Held by Hoofine during inspection, released only after both parties agree.
